The Editorial Cartoons of Chuck Asay

I have been inflicting my religious, right-wing, wacko views on people for over 30 years. I think it’s fun. We live in a free country where everyone is entitled to my opinion.
I was born into a family where controversial views were expressed vigorously but without malice. I believe ideas rule the world, not people. It’s the ideas we wrestle with. People are created in the image of God. We are supposed to love them.
I was raised on a farm in the San Luis Valley in Colorado and have a degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, with majors in Art and Education. I served in the U.S. Army, taught in the public schools, and have cartooned for over 50 years.
I married a hometown girl, the long-suffering Marge. Together we raised two kids who have turned out to be really cool. Marge did an excellent job.
I have drawn cartoons for The Taos News, The Colorado Springs Sun, and The Gazette in Colorado Springs. I am retired as a staff cartoonist but still crank out four cartoons each week for Creators Syndicate. My award-winning views appear in publications nation-wide and I gets lots of hate mail.
All this is good. We need to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak and be patient with everyone. (1 Thessalonians 5:14). I consider this verse to be my job description.
